24th National Potato Days in Kalinowa

In August 2017, the 24th National Potato Days took place in Kalinowa. Along with the Institute of Plant Breeding and Acclimatization, our companies: Hodowla Roślin Kalinowa Sp. z o.o. and Agrosad Sp. z o.o., local government units, and the Municipality and City of Błaszki, joined in organizing this edition of the National Potato Days.

During the fair, plots with over 100 potato varieties were presented, along with innovative technologies for planting, caring for, harvesting, fertilizing, and protecting potatoes. The potential use of new technological solutions in agriculture was also demonstrated, including GPS guidance systems and field-scanning drones. Additionally, visitors could see a collection of over 40 onion varieties, along with the impact of different irrigation systems on their quality and yield.

The 24th National Potato Days was also the largest potato harvesting event in Polish history. Six to eight single-row, two-row, and self-propelled harvesters from various manufacturers were simultaneously harvesting potatoes.

In addition to practical demonstrations, the fair featured lectures on potato cultivation technology, storage, and variety knowledge, as well as marketing solutions and legal regulations.

"Potato Today and Tomorrow," the theme of the Kalinowa fair, also offered a new perspective on potatoes. During the 24th National Potato Days, we presented "Little Potato," mini potato tubers of the future.

The Saturday event culminated in the "Not So Haunted Manor" concert, featuring artists from the Grand Theatre in Łódź. Singers performed arias, duets, and an operatic trio, along with songs by Stanisław Moniuszko, while ballet artists choreographed a mazurka from "The Haunted Manor" and a polonaise from "Halka."
